Does my video get uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser on your own device. Your video is never sent to us or to anyone else, and there is no server copy to delete afterwards. You can watch it work with your network disconnected.
How do I turn an MP4 into a GIF?
Drop the file on this page, drag the handles to pick the seconds you want, and press Make my GIF. MP4, MOV, WebM and most other video files work, because it reads whatever your browser can play.
Is it free?
Yes. The free version makes GIFs up to 480p, 12 seconds, 15 frames a second, with a small AntGlow mark in the corner. PRO is five dollars once, not a subscription, and lifts it to 1080p, 60 seconds, 30 frames a second with no mark.
Why is my GIF so large?
GIF stores every frame as a full image, so length and size matter far more than they do for video. Three seconds at 480p is usually a few megabytes; the same clip at 1080p for 20 seconds can pass 100. Trim the length first, then drop the size, then lower the frame rate. The estimate updates as you change them.
Can I make a GIF without a watermark?
PRO removes it. The free version keeps a small corner mark, which is what pays for the free version existing.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, though a long clip at high quality will be slower than on a laptop and may run out of memory. If a big file stalls on mobile, trim it shorter or pick a smaller size.
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into, on the free version or on PRO.
